Course Name: Advanced Diploma of Translating (Chinese)
Purpose To prepare and qualify individuals to perform translation jobs at the professional level
Course Code: PSP61816
Course Duration: 24 weeks full time (including 1 week term break)
Training Mode: Face to face in class (full time)
Description: The Advanced Diploma of Translating reflects the skills and knowledge required to translate special purpose texts from one language to another to convey information written using specific terminology for a specific audience.
Assessment: Students will be required to complete written assignment work to demonstrate their acquired knowledge and understanding. Primary assessment will involve real and simulated training and assessment facilitation tasks. RPL is available.
Entry Requirements:
  1. A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or other tertiary educational institution.
  2. IELTS  6.5 or above  OR
  3. Proof of work experience in translating, a portfolio or folio of works
  4. An aptitude test to assess bilingual proficiency to ensure the readiness to start the course
Qualification Requirements: To successfully complete this qualification, you require 13 units of competence. These twelve units are comprised of five core units and eight elective units that can be selected from a broad range of units available within the Training and Education Training Package (PSP61816). The units of competence shown below have been selected by MAIT based on the course purpose.
